I'm a Malaysian :)

3 DOWN and 1 to go :) Macroeconomics assessment...And then it's the winter hols!! YAY! A trip to Spain and Christmas with the Cousins and nieces in Ireland. Blissful!

in between... LOADS and LOADS of mind boggling courseworks.... bleerrrgghh...

Talking to Shura for more than once everyday has become a routine for the past month...Last Friday, she brought me around Melbourne!! It was a pretty city...I wanna go there...I wanna buy that ticket to Melbourne next Summer, can I? I want Shu to come to London, can she? I spoke to Shura in between classes during breaks, accompanied her pack for her road trip with her sayang Zamir and..the gist is...I just miss Shuey. She's finally done with her exams and is now back in Malaysia! *sigh* emotions got the better of both of us on Friday.

Oh well, a best friend whom I will NEVER EVER trade for anything in this world! The big sister who understands me inside out! Period.

The Vietnamese

Games and Strategies tutorial was cancelled on Friday and that was a bonus! I ended up taking photos with Matt who very funnily brought his big camera yg cun tu to class!hehe... Less classes and the weekend is here! :D YAY!!! Started the weekend with some UKEC work and preparations for the then upcoming ASEAN Student Leaders Discussion meet. It's the first ever event and it was going to be hosted by the Malaysians, and so that night was all great too! Preparations macam sikit je...hehe...most of the time, we were just being happy people catching up with each other, hanging out, being fed LOADS of chocs by Zee, and enjoying the time.

Afterwards, Hadi and I decided to pay our Milkshake debts and thus, a few of us made our way to the best milkshake town ever, Tinseltown namely Hadi, Hana, Alee, Zee, Kautsar, Farhana, Markus, Hel and I! SEDAPPPP!!! :D At last, Hadi owes me no more Milkshake now! I think so...Ke ade another two Hadi Abdillah? hehe...Thanks for Milkshake Hadi! Trust me the tube trip was just HILLARIOUS! I think we ended up being the noisiest in the tube! Blames can be directed to the Kura Kura Zee and Clingy Kautsar please! I think I just helped by laughing *GRINS*

MILKSHAKE TOWN!

Afterwards, everyone headed back home and Alee, Markus and I headed to Zril's house. Seeing that we have to be at Malaysia Hall at 7.45 the next morning, we decided to just bunk at his house. That night, all of us were just hanging out and chilling and had nothing to worry about! Blissful! Peter started playing the guitar and Markus started singing and vice versa whilst Alee, Fazril and I just enjoyed everyone's company. It was splendid ! We ended up sleeping at 4!! And err... we had to wake up by 6.30!! hahaha...We did it though :D I woke up before 7! Markus was the earliest, and Fazril the latest!! I was second :) So you can rank the disciplinary level from that, kan? hehehe... ( Just kidding! )

So Saturday was the FIRST ASEAN STUDENT LEADERS ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION MEET. Yummy yummy Nasi Lemak greeted us first thing at Malaysia Hall! By the way, we failed to make it at 7.45. haha...Reached at bout 8! Oh well, the others were even later :) It was the first ever event and Malaysia hosting it. Super tak Malaysia? It was one great event which I thought was quite beneficial and interesting at the same time. Brainstorming amongst delegates, ideas being voiced out, networks created between ASEAN countries and student leaders, the opportunity to mingle and get to know each other. I had a great time that's for sure! Participants were student leaders and officers of respective embassies from ASEAN countries, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei. Seriously I thought it was a superb event! Next stop...It will be hosted by the Indonesians. ( Kres, be ready to supply the delegates with Nasi Padang k? :) and yes Kres, Alia is a grown up lil girl now, since KTJ, doink! )

A Proud Malaysian! haha... :)

Malaysians

Delegates from Philippines

The Thais

Singaporeans

It started at 9 and ended at bout 4. Greatly, a set of resolution was built and many ideas were voiced out for the well being of Asean-lites :) It was a really tiring day, and everyone seemed mentally drained by the end of the day. Not sure whether it was the discussion event that was causing it, or was it because we DID NOT GET ENOUGH SLEEP! hahaha.... That night, Alee decided to bake brownies and Fazril came by and hung out till 12 am! lama tu but it was great times! Hana and Hadi decided not to come in the end coz they had tonnes of courseworks to finish up.
Malaysia+Singapore+Brunei+Philippines

Thought of sleeping in on Sunday but there were just too many things to be settled starting from Malaysian Society stuffs, so instead of sleeping in, I was out of the house and about by 9 am. So much for a relaxing Sunday...dah la it was so cold. haih....! :(

All in all, my weekend went great and the whole of last week, only Shura knew how it was being an Alia....Thanks for being there when I needed you Shu and accompanying me with studying till late night..or was it early morning? hehe...Sayang you Shura!

Yet another happy week for Alia. Hahaha...Why AM I ALWAYS HAPPY? I myself wonder too....heee *smiling from ear to ear*

things that keep me going strong

Shuphoe is not a big help sometimes! It's too efficient, super efficient! haha...Thus the awakened-by-Firdaus'- email early in the morning :) Thanks Firdaus! I need the wake up call anyway and motivation to study!! That's a smile to start the day! (I'm assuming some people are lost with this sentence!)
Zril did this in between HIS courseworks!

I've been burying my head in games and strategies for the past I don't know how many long continuous hours. I'm gonna puke economics soon! I need sleep!!! ....but I can't sleep. I wanna know where they got the probability of a weakly dominatd action...to convict or to acquit? Guilty or not? I need to be a judge to answer that! Not an economist or mathematician or even a statistician. So why is it in my economics book? haha...Fazril just often tries hard to "motivate" me and this time by editing my pictures! That's the first motivation factor of it's kind :D

"And so, if you have more than one nash equilibrium and pure strategies, you are bound to be able to find the mix strategy which involves 2 constant"

Well, not that I reallly get tortured big time pun coz the subject is super interesting. I like it! It tests your mind and motivates you to be a person like John Nash! I wanna be John Nash! I wanna learn how to beat the computer in Hex....but my brain is dead tired just learning thousands of games and squeezing my tiny lil head for pure strategies or even a mixed one. I never thought I'd see a day when I actually look for probabilities and strategies of winning a complicated game in a subject. I thought games are just for you to have fun with when you're bored, no? This one, it even test your patience! hahaha...

Anyhoo...I've been talking to Shura EVERYDAY (nothing new to that though. *grins*)! and talking to Pho A LOT too lately! Especially the bestie in Mebourne. She wishes me good night before leaving for school, she wishes me good morning before she goes to sleep....Time difference is never an excuse :D Shu cheered me up big time yesterday! Thank you Shuwaaa!! and two nights ago was a night for Shu, Pho, Alia and Shuphoe. Havoc I tell you! :) I slept with a smile and woke up with a smile too! Excellent motivation! They make me happy and keep me going and keep me away from sometimes-weirdd "things" too. Don't know why they do that, don't care even! heee! (you two are so filled with my life, kan kan?! hehe...)

Laaffff my Shurafazlinashukor and Phoebetingsuyuin!
You'd be sursprise to see how Shu has that power to make me happy and motivated:D

People asked "Why are you always happy?"

HELLO SNOW!!!
It has officially snowed in the UK...In warwick...and It's LEBAT!!!! eeee....Hopefully it won't come so soon in London! I don't want snow!!

The past week was yet another splendid one :)

Didn't really do anything much except consatntly looking at em books and sleeping and going for lectures and classes, and most importantly filling myself with new vocabulary everyday, nothing much but it's still good :D

And so, Arun and Shahril filled me in with new complicated words and knowledge fed me this past week. It's nice to learn new words and concepts everyday, feels good! HAPPY!

Then, Alee and I have been stuck in the room burying our faces in books and at the same time going crazy and we've been having many happy crazy times. So studying and revising ended up being something we quite enjoy doing because of each others company really. I ask her when I don'tunderstandand she gets me to proof check some partial fractions thingy. HAPPY!

Then, on wednesday, Zril and I went phone hunting and yipppeee! I got my white Shuphoe in the end :) A stroll at oxford street on a weekday, errmm....more like Topshop with Alee and Faezah and Topman with Zril was good too. We all got at least one thing for ourselves and went back happily after a good time eventhough it wasn't that long. HAPPY!
Then the talk time with Shura and Dr Zamir and Phoebe. Oh they make me happy!
On Friday, us housemates (that includes Yameen!) went all the way to North London Zone 4 for a scrumptious oriental dinner at Colindale. El J and Go Howe joined shortly and we did nothing but spoilt ourselves with the many halal food there :) ...and took many photos too! HAPPY!

Yesterday, it was the weekend. Yameen came early in the morning to wake us up for jogging! Ughhh....It was a saturday la...Malasnye. hahaha...And Yameen came in waking us up :D But then...I ended up going to the library instead to do some nerding. I find pleasure in nerding nowadays, and it scares me sometimes. hehehe...*grins* After the library, I went to get choc chips for ALee to bake and continued nerding at home afterwards....Until Three people came to scare me! HEART ATTACK!
note : This always happen coz I have headphones in my ear when I study hence not realizing it when people enter the room.

But anyhooo... It was Hana, Hadi and Jeff!!! They're here to lepak and eat cookies :) and Aliaa and Yameen came to join afterwards.
We just did nothing, ate cookies, took loads of photos (as usual) and Jeff and Hadi just played the guitar. Relaxing! They always come with this mood. Calm and relaxing. Best!
Sayang Hana, Hadi, Jeff, Aliaa and my two housemates Alee and Yameen a lot! HAPPY!

and today....I've been sleeping and nerding all day and spending time with Alee, but now she has gone out for a breather. She's bored...so she went out to take pictures with Mudha at Camden!

So... "Why am I always happy?". Coz people just allow me to :)

Wednesday 14 November 2007

An excellent week :)

I was awaken by a call all the way from Malaysia at....6 AM!! WHAT?! and trust me, it was one realllly IMPORTANT call, you don't take this, Accenture will take their sponsorship away! *Jumps out of bed* So that's how your life goes about at random times if you're in the student council. Healthy pressure that keeps me on the go and happy happy :)

Anyway, the whole one week that has passed was a super duper uberly perfect blast! Started off with me having a week off from Uni coz we had our usual "reading week" where obviously the name says it all. You are supposed to revise and study and basically try to be a hard core nerd wannabe :D It went great I must say. Long hours in the library, sleep, eat, talk to mum and dad, Azwan and firdaus often, more long hours in the room stuck to the chair and getting eye bags...heh?How is that nice? Well, I understood things clearly now, past year papers was an enjoyable attempt every single time, you have no appointments to worry bout, just reading em books and doing questions made me happy...Now that's a Happy Nerd Wannabe :D haha... Assessment papers were on Thursday and Friday and it went quite well, Alhamdulillah.

Throughout last week, Alee has been baking a lot! ie; For Kiran's birthday, baking for fun, baking triple chocs just to motivate me to study...aaaahhh...Her brownies and triple choc cake and choc chip cookies...They make me wanna study! hahaha...What the heck! It was heavenly though. She's gonna open a bakery shop and leave Bank Negara i think! hahaha....
On friday, Phoebe ( YAY! I've been waiting for her! ) and Ikhwan arrived from Birmingham and Sheffield to spend time in London and also for the UCL Mnite. This was when the happy weekend started. I finished my assessment paper earlier in the afternoon. Glad that's over! Went Hyde Park strolling with Zril afterwards to wait for Pho to arrive when a squirrel decided to be super friendly and climbed on me, WITHOUT permission nor any cue. *Panic attack* Fazril, he decided to laugh at me! bluek...JAHAT! London is now freezing, but the sun still shines, so Parks are the best. We went for waffles and just walked about with no hala tuju yg tertentu at the park. It was nice, people were warm, kids were having fun and the weather was excellent, there's sun la.

After some time, it got chilly, so we headed back to Zril's and spent time with Jared. YES , JARED ETHAN ANG TZER SHEN! haha...He was good, his normal usual self, all relaxed and out of the blue stressed up over some money loss. haha...Jared Jared. He was going to watch Lord Of the Rings Musical at night with the IC lites. Later afterwards, I went over to Faezah's.We agreed to have dinner together since it's been toooo long since we last met. It was a good time! We filled each other with things that have been happening, classes, uni, friends and was just being happy. Then Ikhwan arrived shortly and all three of us headed to MnS coz Faezah was craving for a Chocolate Pudding but sadly it was finished :( So we went for toffee instead. After that it was, Faezah, Alia, Phoebe, Ikhwan, Friends series and toffee pudding :D NICE!

That night My housemates and I plus Pho and Ikky just hung out catching up on things with the company of strawberry and fruit trifles :) Why am I not surprised that food goes wherever we go? hehe...Phoebe said "Kalau I datang London, memang la I will put on at least 2 KG!". haha...
At the same time, did some CEKU ( click click! ) work with Shahril online and ended up sleeping at 6 AM! Shahril on the other hand had to catch a train to London, so no sleep for him. No sleep for him but he was wide awake when I met him in the morning for meeting. I had to struggle to wake up for the 10 AM meeting man :)

Fazril and I left the meeting quite early since Zril had PNB meeting whilst I had some fun time waiting :) Met Phoebe and Ikhwan afterwards and we went for lunch at GBK! Burgers are TWICE as tall and as big as a BIG mac. So yeah, you imagine how we managed to fit em monsters into our stomach. Yummylicious :D Advantage in London : Easy access to good (halal) food. So you can imagine how Ikhwan felt to have those scrumptious burgers for lunch.

After lunch, we stopped at Tesco and Pho got Ikky Krispy Kreme which shockingly did not interest me at all. I got sick of it after Accenture sponsored 500 POUNDS worth of Krispy Kreme for our UKEC Agm. Nyum nyum! Accenture is super awesome :)

Picture Perfect of 4 Alia, Alyaa, Alia, Aliaa

We headed to Kensington gardens after that for a nice stroll in the park with the company of two cameras, sunnies, hot soft waffles and Ice Cream!! (More FOOD!). Let's just say it wasn't a Phoebe day last Saturday. She kept walking into things, knocked her head at the tree branches AFTER being warned and...yeah, not a phoebe day. hehe...We stopped by Msia Hall for a bit in the vening before heading home to get ourselves ready fro UCL's Malaysian Night.

Mr Superstar Jerry Imran :D

Met so many people at the Malaysian Night and I must say, the dance was superb! I loved them all :) Though I didn't really get all the jokes in the "story". hahaha... It was all good that night, happpy! We headed to Tinseltown after that cause everyone was hungry. WHOA!! Everyone must have had the same idea, no? The same set of people at UCL were at Tinseltown too. Oohh...they serve the best Milkshake ever! Sedaaaaaaap! We went home like happy kids :)

The next day, everyone was just dead! No one woke up till 12! Went to Malaysia Hall for lunch since someone was craving for nasi lemak ayam...oh dear me. So yeah, Sabby and Aisyah came to join us afterwards. Then met Shahril for a bit before heading home and at night us housemates and Kiran's boyfriend from Russia who just arrived just rested and relaxed and I was making sure I end my weekend nicely. and truly it DID!

Alia's a happy girl!

In between revision and assessment

Whilst in the tube with the iPod stuck into my ears and music blasting real loud, I think probably people sitting 10 seats away can hear.... ( well, I'm used to it so I don't think it's loud. hehe...Plus I have music in my ear most of the time. People I'm close with are used to it ) I got motivated out of the blue! hahaha... Was really funny!! I started smiling to myself and thought, it's amazing how music can give me instant motivation and inspire me to strive. haha...Weirdo. Alee and Kiran are so immune to it, they just don't see how music can give me instant motivation and happiness.Anyhow, they just smiled and said "Weirdo. But since it's you Alia, we understand. You get motivated easily".

It's nice to know that I get motivated and this sudden happiness feeling easily just as the music play in my iTunes.So...it's not weird to see me suddenly all hyper and wanna-treasure-life out of the sudden every...10 minutes?! hehe...Alia and music, we have chemistry :D

It doesn't even take much to make me smile :) A long phone call with mummy, daddy and abang. Messages from the bestie, the Doctor in birmingham and observant brilliant people who realize things without even being told anything at all, ( IMPRESSIVE ), The Superman and Wikipedia and those with new found best friend, the blackberry.

Things happen for a reason, but if things happen without even having a valid reason for it? Sometimes I just wonder....

15 hours and counting....I'm off to nerdify myself further. Ihaven't been out of the room today except to have lunch with Kiran and dinner with housemates and our 4th regular housemate, YAMEEN! ( all took place in the living room je. Tak jauh pun ). I'm quite happy with the progress of my nerdification ( hahaha..it doesn't exist k. I'm just making it up! ) process. It feels goood to understand!!! I miss home....But I'm happy being a nerd thus far. I'm a happy nerd! :D

Music + Algebra + Statistics + Games and Strategies Economics + Reading Week + CEK(U)KEC + Melodi music = Happy Alia

A Happy Nerd

I just got myself a nerd-pass! *WHOA* yes, officially, a nerd. and....a happy one thus far :D

The past week, many happy things and thoughts came about. Well especially the fact that the I-WANNA-BE-A-NERD idea is working! To top it all off, I found a music that can motivate me instantly!!! Excellent! :D Thanks TOCK!

and last night, Tock decided to pay us a visit, just coz he misses us. How sweet is that? Alia sayang Tock sangat! He always comes with a cheerful bubbly self and makes you all happy with his stories, though sometimes...errr...it doesn't make sense. But still...it's ok Tock. I know you don't think you fit in with us just coz you've graduated! BLUEK! haha...Alee baked chocolate chip cookies yang so sedap semalam to boost my motivation to be a hard core nerd! hahaha.....Thankyou Alia!!!!!!! I sayangs you roomie :D Though...you're damn crazy sometimes! She'd rather have her face in the sun than to walk and shut the curtains k! Weirdo!
So, whilst catching up with Tock and enjoying em cookies, a knock came on the door! WHOA! 8 others came to pay us a visit!!! haha....they were Hadi, Jeff, Hana, Aliaa, Yameen, Liyana, Mudha and another Hana :) Meriahnye our house!!! So the whole night, we were just being happy University students which I thought was reallly nice especially the Hadi + Jeff combination! I think, once they graduate they'll fit to work with Tourism Malaysia I swear, promoting Kuantan for a good one and a half hours last night!! You two are the craziest housemates ever. I'm glad they came! Truly was a happy day yesterday! I looike :D Btw Hadi, you owe me Milkshake!!! and for the record...Milkshake ke berape dah? 3rd one right?

The rest of the week it was all happy and nice too!

  • I enjoyed the stroll at Hyde Park with Fazril
  • Been spending a lot of time in the library which ends up productive most of the days ( super happy! )
  • Alia and Kiran's company have been super duper uberly perfecto! I love my housemates!
  • I agreed to something that makes me happy ( and the decision was not difficult to make )
  • Enjoying the random visits from people!
  • Been treasuring life ( huh? how do you do that? ) hehe...

I'm happy being happy and....I'm just a happy kid I guess, though I'm officially a whacko nerd at the moment. Oh heck, who cares. So anyone knows how to simplify the explanation for Moment Generating Function? heee!

Btw, I'm happy too coz I've been talking to Shura EVERYDAY!!! Before she goes to library, after I come back from school and library, before I sleep, and after she wakes up :) I miss shu...

Things I ponder about

"...u know, alia will still be a part of ukec because she sangat sangat love the experience she gets, she craves for it. especially the stress and pressure! she suka the stress. and the whole gaining valueable knowledge. She gets too attached easily..."

*Those words somehow stopped me from what I was doing*
Those were exactly the words that Alia Sidek told my third housemate tonight.

AGM ended quite quickly last Sunday with many motions being passed and constitution being revised and it was the worst day ever. Earlier in the morning Firdaus had to leave for Malaysia already since he has work the next day. Now that's a true workaholic! So he did not attend the AGM on Sunday. I've probably grown to be too attached to him...the whole ukec committee of 2006/2007, making it difficult for me to see him leave, and I mean really difficult.Too attached up to the point where his scoldings and naggings don't hurt me in any way at all. Well, some things you can't keep forever. Working with him has been a good experience, but it can't stay forever...Can it?

Throughout AGM on Sunday, my mind wasn't exactly in that hall with the rest of the other Presidents of Malaysian Society, instead it was somewhere far away....Hence all the abstaining on all motions!

How fast is today going to pass? Will I be able to see people leave? Am I strong enough to see people close to me take that plane back home?Have I grown to be too attached to UKEC? If no, then why is it that the whole year's events and ups and downs keep playing back in my head?

Later in the evening, it was time for mum and dad and Iedil to leave. I've been having a great time whilst my parents were around. The best ever whenever they are around in London. It feels like home and I just did not want them to leave.

Iedil on the other hand, the first senior I met in Queen Mary, the one who came over with gigantic pizza just to cheer me up when I was feeling homesick during my first year and the one with the ability to turn things from a gloomy rainy day to a sunny sunshine-y one. The whole Thorpe Park mayhem and charades at night and the comfy comfy polka dotty cow...and the list goes on...

Things just seemed to pass by so fast...It's like it was just yesterday that they were all here, Mum and Dad arrived at Heathrow, the day I started knowing Firdaus due to Career's Fair, the day I met Iedil for the first time at Khan's...and now, it's time for them to leave. I hate seeing people leave, neither do I like leaving something I've grown too attached to.

I miss Mum and Dad, Firdaus and Iedil badly! I think it was a good thing I did not see Lopes go the next day, or it would be yet another day I couldn't be able to go through. How come? I've only known them when I came to Uni...What more, Lopes and Firdaus. I knew them this year, a few months back...How did I get sooo attached? That's a weakness I have yet to understand and find ways to rectify. According to Alia S, I get attached easily and I am attached to many things, and people...and I get overprotective over these things. Don't pick on em or I'll bite! :D

I guess that's why I've decided this time...not to get too involved hence not get attached, thus a happier ending, no? According to Zee's theory..."get attach to others la, like me. But wait, later you leave, I'll cry pulak". You're funny Zee! Honestly, I do not want to get too attached though I know where exactly my heart lies ( Alia Sidek would barge in and give that Firdaus' face and say "oooo...so deeep. See, someone still wants the experience!" ) *Btw, once she finish reading this, she's so gonna kill me for writing the word U.K.E.C*hahaha...Look at the top two, Khai and Shahril are final years who will be leaving next year.

Oh well...Anyway, good luck to the new committee! :D
